Many WWE Superstars are rehired several years after their contracts expire. In Damon Kemp's case, he is open to the idea of returning to the company just days after his departure was confirmed.
Kemp, real name Bobby Steveson, began training at WWE's Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, in 2021. The 25-year-old appeared on NXT programming as a member of the Diamond Mine and No Quarter Catch Crew factions.
On Monte and The Pharaoh, Kemp said he had a positive conversation with a higher-up a week before his contract was not renewed. He also dismissed speculation about his loyalty and revealed he would like to return:
"I was really taken back and caught off guard," Kemp stated. "But there was no regrets, no regrets being there. I loved it. I'd go back. I know a lot of people talked and like [speculated about] going to the UFC, didn't wanna re-sign because I was going to the UFC or something like that. That's not true." [41:20 – 41:37]
Kemp's final televised match ended in defeat against Tavion Heights on the June 25 episode of NXT.

Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson looked set to be a star of the future after signing with WWE in 2021. However, the 24-year-old received his release in May after struggling to make an impact on NXT.
Damon Kemp is unsure if his real-life brother's exit played a part in the company not extending his contract:
"I hope not. I hope not, man. I hope not. Like I mentioned, man, it was real fun. It was great for me, so I just hope it wasn't one of those things. That's all I really have to say on that one." [42:22 – 42:40]
Kemp added that he plans to stay in the wrestling business regardless of whether he returns to WWE.
