WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is set for a massive one-on-one match on next week's Monday Night RAW. The legendary luchador will be in action against Xavier Woods.
The New Day member is a four-time RAW Tag Team Champion, a seven-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, and a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion. For the past few weeks, Woods and Kofi Kingston have been at odds. In the absence of Big E, Kingston has been making unilateral decisions for the group, which has not sat well with the former King of the Ring.
The New Day lost a tag team match against American Made's Brutus Creed and Julius Creed on the September 23, 2024, edition of WWE RAW. Backstage, after the match, Woods expressed his frustration to Kingston about their repeated losses.
As soon as the LWO appeared, the 12-time Tag Team Champion snapped at Rey Mysterio, and the latter challenged him to a singles match on the upcoming RAW. The two men will go head-to-head for the first time in their WWE careers.
On X/Twitter, The New Day member sent a strong message while expressing determination for his upcoming match against Rey Mysterio, a wrestler who inspired him. Xavier Woods believed he was justified in his actions last week and aimed to prove his point on Monday Night RAW.
"For the first time ever, im going 1 on 1 with @reymysterio - a guy who inspired me to always fight for myself and what I believe in. I believe that last Monday night i was in the right, and this Monday night when I'm standing across from Rey, I'll prove it."

Female WWE star wants to team up with Rey Mysterio
Bayley, who lost her Women's Championship at SummerSlam 2024, recently opened up about sharing the ring with the legendary luchador.
At Fanatics Live Signings at Fanatics Fest NYC, The Hugger expressed her preference to team with Rey Mysterio in a mixed tag team match. Bayley highlighted the WWE Hall of Famer's skill and willingness to do most of the work while she would contribute with powerful moves.
"I have teamed with Seth [Rollins] before. That was great. Honestly, I’m going to have to say Rey Mysterio. He’ll do all the work, and I’ll just throw powerbombs out. 619 straight into a powerbomb. Sounds good to me," she said.
It remains to be seen whether Rey Mysterio will secure a big win over Xavier Woods or if The New Day member will be the one to pin the legendary luchador on WWE RAW.
