WWE SummerSlam's match card is dominated by title matches, as six of seven matches are for championship gold. Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa, while Liv Morgan puts her Women's World Title on the line against Rhea Ripley.

Sami Zayn will also be in action, defending the Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker. The champ's been arguably overcoming the odds too much, and another win at SummerSlam could come with consequences because of his recent winning run. The 40-year-old ended Gunther's 666-day title reign at WrestleMania XL somewhat controversially. Many expected a new name, such as Chad Gable or Ilja Dragunov, to be the one to end the Ring General's historic run.

Triple H has booked Sami Zayn strongly since winning the Intercontinental Championship. He's beaten Chad Gable, Bronson Reed, Otis, and most recently, Bron Breakker at Money in the Bank.

Fans expected Breakker to win, given his reign of terror since arriving on WWE RAW, taking out Ricochet and Ilja Dragunov, two stars who boast similarities to 'underdog' Zayn.

The reigning champion's constant wins are putting him into Super Cena territory. Fans responded frostily to his being chosen over Gable to challenge Gunther at Mania XL. No matter the circumstances, they could turn further on the former Bloodline member if he picks up another victory at SummerSlam.

Sami Zayn has plenty of other stories to enter should he lose at WWE SummerSlam

Sami Zayn was perhaps pro wrestling's most popular star in 2022 when he was at the forefront of the Bloodline storyline. That popularity led to him teaming with Jey Uso, winning the tag titles with Kevin Owens, and battling Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The Canadian star's recent history means he has plenty of other storylines to attend if he loses his Intercontinental Championship. He could start tagging with Jey Uso on WWE RAW and target Judgment Day's World Tag Team Championship.

Zayn could also get involved in The Bloodline Civil War, which looks to be on the horizon. Roman Reigns is seemingly returning at SummerSlam, and he could turn to the former Honorary Uce to help take down Solo Sikoa's Bloodline 2.0.

Bron Breakker needs the Intercontinental Title to cement his status as RAW's badass. With it, he can continue destroying his fellow stars who try to challenge him for the title.
