Elimination Chamber 2013: Analyzing Team Super Cena vs The Shield

Elimination Chamber

Team Super Cena (Team of John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus) vs The Shield is going to be a match that will polarize the WWE Universe on Sunday, with the PG fans supporting Team Super Cena and the more mature followers opting for the Shield. Cena, Sheamus and Ryback will look to end the Shield’s dominant run in WWE. The Shield, however, are finding it difficult to come up with a good strategy to oppose this super strong team and have been dominated for the past two weeks. The interesting thing about this match is the talent that is inside the ring. Ryback, Sheamus and Cena are top stars already and are indeed good talent and are favourites to win the match. However, the Shield have won their previous encounter and it will be great to see them not lose momentum in this match either. Let us now analyze each wrestler of the Shield and find out if they stand a chance against the Team Super Cena.

The most impressive wrestler of the Shield is without doubt Dean Ambrose, who is also the promo king of the team. I bet he is alongside the best in WWE today when it comes to cutting promos. He is a crazy freak and his promos indicate just that. His ability to act like a maniac reminds me of the Joker in Batman. His attitude inside the ring as he talks and wrestles does indicate that he is here to be one of the most hated heels in wrestling history. Ambrose is as good as Sheamus in the other team. One main reason why Ambrose and Sheamus are comparable is because of Sheamus’ finisher White Noise. Ambrose used this move in indy wrestling shows as the Midnight Special.

Roman Reigns is without doubt in this group mainly for his size and strength. Though his mic skills don’t look very impressive, it is his ability to strike that grabs a lot of people’s attention. His style of wrestling doesn’t involve a lot of finesse but does have a sense of brutality in it. His most notable movie is the spear which looks extremely impressive. The fact that he is with the Shield gives him necessary leverage of growing despite not being the best and proves to be an excellent match for Ryback. It will be fun to see these two power houses go against each other. The Bearhug Clothesline vs Reigns’ Spear looks an interesting contest.

Seth Rollins, as many ROH fans will agree, is a technical genius. He has extremely good in ring talent and has some brilliant moves up his sleeve. Despite his size, he is agile and is even able to perform high flying moves that makes him a versatile wrestler. He will most likely go against John Cena, who, though not as versatile as Rollins, has the ability to kick out of almost any finisher in the world.

Clearly it seems that despite the presence of huge talent the Shield does look a little weak against these three supermen. WWE creative must understand the importance of giving the Shield the momentum as they have done enough to develop this stable as a dominant force. Making them lose their match against this top babyface team will only derail their progress.

If the match occurs inside the Elimination Chamber, then there is every possibility of a Shield victory. The Shield can play the numbers game and then eliminate one wrestler at a time. But since the possibility of this match happening inside the chamber is doubtful, all we can expect now is to see how the Shield performs and whether WWE will give them something to carry along to RAW after the PPV.
