Did fans see a new take on the former Hounds of Justice?

A new female faction debuted on the latest episode of WWE RAW. After Damage CTRL defeated the trio of Lyra Valkyria, Katana Chance. and Kayden Carter, three familiar faces blindsided the winning team.

Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville, and Zoey Stark attacked Damage CTRL, laying out Kairi Sane, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY in the ring. SKY, however, received the brunt of the attack. Was a new generation of fans introduced to a female version of the iconic Shield faction on WWE RAW?

There are a few loose similarities on the surface. Both groups had three members and wore black. The Shield wanted to right the wrongs in WWE, but it meant perceived wrongs against their patrons like CM Punk.

One big difference, however, is that the Shield all made their main-roster debuts when they attacked Ryback and John Cena. Deville, Baszler, and Stark are already known to main roster fans.

Another interesting part of the assault was that the new trio did not attack Valkyria, Chance, and Carter. If they were hellbent on chaos, the face trio wouldn't have been spared in the attack. The Shield usually attacked anyone in the vicinity of their targets.

WWE RAW's new Hounds of Justice?

In a backstage interview, Stark, Baszler, and Deville provided their reasons for the surprise attack. The three women claimed they were tired of others thinking they ruled the women's division.

Damage CTRL has long considered it to be the ruler of the division since the faction once held the WWE Women's Championship and WWE Women's Tag Team Title. Attacking RAW's current top faction made sense for the new allies.

Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler have attempted to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles on a few occasions but came away empty-handed. Deville has tried to talk to them backstage several times, telling them that the rest of the locker room doesn't respect them. The duo was not receptive to her words.

Stark blamed IYO SKY for costing her a chance at Money in the Bank. During the match, The Genius of the Sky sent Zoey through a ladder with a Michinoku Driver, allowing Tiffany Stratton to claim the case.

The pinpoint attack could also claim the Women's Tag Team Titles since Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn confronted the ladies in black after their interview on RAW.

The new trio may not be an exact female version of the Shielf, but both groups want vengeance. That need for revenge could culminate with a big win at SummerSlam in three weeks.
