Cody Rhodes is set to put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Solo Sikoa in the main event of SummerSlam.

During the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Rhodes cut an emotional promo that may have possibly teased his next feud after Solo Sikoa, which could involve none other than The Viper, Randy Orton.

Last week, Rhodes was forced to watch as his friend Orton was handed a beatdown by The Bloodline, who made a statement by putting the 14-time World Champion through the announce table. During the show this week, Rhodes expressed his guilt over what Randy went through.

The American Nightmare explained how Orton was his mentor before becoming his friend, stating that he would never have been WWE Champion without him and referring to him as his brother.

It seems that the Stamford-based company is slowly building towards a feud involving Cody and Randy down the line after SummerSlam.

Former WWE star believes Randy Orton is going to turn heel

Last Friday, in the absence of Kevin Owens, Randy Orton warned Cody Rhodes about confronting The Bloodline and getting outnumbered. Despite the warning, Rhodes went ahead and faced The Bloodline all by himself.

The Bloodline got the better of Rhodes and started attacking him. This was when Orton came out to make the save. Despite his best efforts, he was outnumbered too. Solo Sikoa and the rest of the group made a statement by forcing Rhodes to watch as they beat down Randy Orton before putting him through an announce table.

During a recent episode of the Busted Open Radio podcast, Tommy Dreamer speculated that The Viper might turn heel and unleash his fury on Rhodes after what happened last week. Dreamer suggested that Randy, having warned Rhodes about The Bloodline and then suffering a beatdown himself while trying to help The American Nightmare, might feel justified in his anger.

"If you think about Randy Orton, like, he kinda warned you Cody and then yet he has to get his a** kicked for you. That's the story that could be told if Randy, like you and I had talked about, ever turns on Cody," Tommy Dreamer said.
