WWE Monday Night RAW featured several big surprises in one segment. It all started with CM Punk taking the microphone and revealing that The Straight Edge Superstar had been medically cleared to compete.

The next surprise came from Adam Pearce. The RAW General Manager revealed that Drew McIntyre had been reinstated. Not only that, but he announced The Scottish Psychopath and The Best in The World will go one-on-one at SummerSlam.

However, the final surprise was the most interesting. Seth Rollins came out during the segment and revealed that The Visionary would be the Special Guest Referee for the showdown between Punk and McIntyre at The Biggest Party of The Summer.

Needless to say, this has dramatically shaken things up. Both men despise Seth Rollins, and the feelings are likely mutual. As a result, a lot can happen in Cleveland, Ohio. Rollins needs to be cautious and avoid certain mistakes, given the animosity. This article will look at a handful of things he must avoid doing.

Below are three mistakes Seth Rollins should not make at WWE SummerSlam 2024:

#3. Seth Rollins shouldn't cross Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre is a very successful wrestler. The Scottish Warrior is a three-time WWE World Champion and a former Royal Rumble winner.

For a long time, Drew had the reputation of being a light-hearted big man who would occasionally crack jokes. That has changed in the last year or so, however. The Scottish Warrior has channeled his inner aggression to the hilt during his feud with Punk and has delivered exceptional character work.

Drew's aggression has led to acts of extreme violence, with CM Punk being a victim of it on more than one occasion. Drew even once left The Voice of The Voiceless battered and bloody during an episode of SmackDown. He doesn't take grief from anyone anymore and will do anything he pleases if they stand up to him.

This means Seth Rollins must avoid angering the Scottish star. It would be a huge mistake to cross Drew right now, as the former World Heavyweight Champion is at the top of his game and more violent than ever. The Visionary could end up back on the injury reserve list.

#2. The Visionary should avoid making the match too much about himself

Seth Rollins being the Special Guest Referee is particularly interesting, given the role of an official and how it contrasts with his usual personality. A referee is supposed to be in the background during the match, so the focus can stay on the WWE Superstars.

The Visionary is everything a referee isn't. Instead of blending in and being quiet, Seth is loud, vibrant, and verbose. He will talk and talk, just to hear the sound of his voice. The Architect loves being the center of attention.

When he is the Special Guest Referee in Cleveland next month, The Visionary must avoid giving in to his instincts and instead try to act like a normal referee. It will be a mistake on Seth's part if he tries to hog the limelight from Drew and Punk at SummerSlam 2024.

#1. He shouldn't disappoint the WWE Universe by letting the bout end via a disqualification or count-out finish

As noted, a referee's role is to stay in the background as much as possible. However, the match official must also enforce the rules and ensure the competing stars do not employ unfair means to steal a victory.

Thankfully, Seth Rollins doesn't quite have to go by those strict parameters. As a result, he can bend the rules, or more accurately, allow Drew McIntyre and CM Punk to bend the rules a bit without worrying about Adam Pearce or Triple H reacting negatively.

If Drew or Punk wrestled too long outside of the ring, a standard WWE official would count them out. If a weapon is used or orders aren't listened to, a typical referee would disqualify the competitors. This would leave fans disappointed.

Thankfully, Rollins doesn't need to do that and he can avoid disappointing fans by making either of those rulings. The last thing WWE officials and Triple H specifically would want is for the audience to leave upset, thanks to a lackluster finish.
