AJ Lee has been away from the wrestling ring for over nine years since she departed from WWE in 2015. However, there is a growing interest in seeing the former Divas Champion return to the Stamford-based company, especially with her name being linked to the ongoing storyline between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.
While it is possible that Lee could make a return to the Stamford-based promotion, it may not be in connection with the Punk-McIntyre feud. Instead, she could return to form a faction with top heels on NXT, specifically Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade.
Cora Jade made her return during the recent debut episode of NXT on the CW Network, where she interfered in the NXT Women's Championship match between Roxanne and Giulia, helping The Prodigy retain her title. During a backstage interaction later in the show, it appeared that the two former friends might be forging a partnership moving forward. Given that AJ Lee is a childhood idol for both Perez and Jade, she could be the perfect choice to return and lead this potential heel stable on the developmental brand.

Roxanne Perez has established herself as one of the top stars on NXT, and it is evident that many of her mannerisms and in-ring styles have been influenced by her childhood idol, AJ Lee.
In a recent interview, Perez expressed her desire for Lee to make a return to the ring. She mentioned that she has been encouraging CM Punk to convince his wife to come back, and the Best in the World has been supportive of this idea. Roxanne expressed that AJ Lee could return to WWE and even have a match against her one day.
"Definitely, yeah, I try [to talk to CM Punk about convincing AJ Lee to return] but he tells me that he’s doing the same thing. He’s trying to get her to come back, he’s pulling her in, but, I hope one day she decides to come back and have a match with me," Roxanne Perez said.
It will be interesting to see if AJ Lee returns to a wrestling ring anytime soon.
