Earlier in 2024, reports surfaced that Shane McMahon was no longer under contract with WWE. There have since been rumors about his potential move to rival promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

While that seems unlikely for now, if Shane does intend to return to the wrestling business, WWE would undoubtedly be his top option. Given how his last appearance ended, with him tearing his quad during an impromptu match against The Miz at WrestleMania 39, there is a chance Shane feels he has unfinished business and needs to prove himself upon returning.

Below are four things Shane McMahon could do if he returns to WWE.

#4. Manage a rising star

If there is anyone who knows the wrestling business inside and out, it’s Shane McMahon. With his wealth of experience, the 54-year-old could be interested in helping younger stars develop under his guidance.

Austin Theory, for instance, has immense potential but currently seems stuck in the midcard. Aligning with someone like Shane McMahon could be the boost Theory needs to reach the next level and fulfill his potential.

A few years ago, Theory was mentored by Vince McMahon during his time as a heel. Now, he could be managed by Shane McMahon as a babyface, showcasing his growth on-screen.

#3. Join the WWE creative team

Shane McMahon always had a vision of taking over WWE from his father, Vince McMahon, one day. However, that never materialized, as Mr. McMahon was reluctant to relinquish his position as Head of Creative.

Now, the 79-year-old is no longer involved in the company and Triple H has assumed the role of Chief Content Officer. Hence, there is a possibility that Shane could return to WWE and join Triple H in a top creative position.

#2. New General Manager of WWE RAW on Netflix?

Monday Night RAW is set for a massive move to Netflix in early 2025. This is one of the biggest developments in wrestling history. WWE will undoubtedly be planning extensively for this monumental shift.

One potential decision could be the introduction of a new General Manager for the show. While Adam Pearce has done an excellent job in his role thus far, Netflix might want a more mainstream figure in the authority position. Shane McMahon could be the perfect candidate to fill this spot. With prior experience as a General Manager, the 54-year-old could become the face in charge of RAW when it transitions to Netflix.

#1. Retirement match with Drew McIntyre

Shane McMahon has delivered numerous memorable moments for fans throughout his time as an in-ring performer. Given his legacy, he likely would not want his final match to be remembered for his bout against The Miz at WrestleMania 39, which ended in no contest due to his injury.

He could possibly return for one last run as an in-ring competitor before officially retiring. One potential opponent for him could be Drew McIntyre, who has had a phenomenal year so far. With his feud against CM Punk now over, it is unclear what is next for The Scottish Warrior.

A program with Shane McMahon, possibly culminating at WrestleMania 41, could be the perfect scenario. The two have previously worked together as tag team partners. So, there is definitely potential for a storyline if WWE chooses to go in that direction.
