5 WWE stars who may not return until 2025

2024 has been a good year for WWE so far with several returns, successful call-ups, and intense feuds. However, not everything will always play out perfectly in the world of wrestling.

As mentioned above, many returns happened recently with Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and CM Punk, to name a few. It also featured successful call-ups like Tiffany Stratton, Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, and more. However, the Stamford-based promotion also experienced some setbacks due to injured or absent stars. Still, that may all change by the following year.

For this list, we will look at five WWE stars who may not return until 2025.

#5. John Cena has already announced a Retirement Tour in 2025

A bittersweet moment wrestling fans are looking to next year is John Cena, who will be making his final appearances on Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and much more.

Although the star has been quite active in making sporadic appearances for the company this year, fans may see him next in 2025. As many may know, The Cenation Leader is now a Hollywood star and he may be clearing his schedule to focus on WWE next year.

#4. The Rock could be set for another major WrestleMania feud

The Rock's return en route to WrestleMania XL made for one of the most unforgettable and exciting build-ups of a main event in years. From the looks of it, he would be making more appearances in wrestling in the future.

Dwayne Johnson is currently busy with his Hollywood projects, which could keep him out of WWE for the rest of 2024. However, he has many options to share the ring with once he returns in 2025. It could be against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, or fans will finally have The Final Boss face Roman Reigns.

#3. Becky Lynch could make a grand return to WWE

Many superstar contracts expired this year. While some renewed and will remain with the company for several more years, Becky Lynch has decided not to re-sign. Many think The Man has already hinted at retirement on an Instagram post, but never say never.

In an appearance with Games With Names, Lynch shared that she is not rushing into things, is enjoying time with her family, and not having to think about the chaos of being a superstar. Next year, she could decide to go back into the ring after taking some time off.

#2. Asuka is sidelined with an injury

While some stars in this list won't be seen next year due to personal or creative reasons, some WWE stars won't be present for a while due to more unfortunate reasons, like injury, which is the case of Asuka.

At WWE Backlash France, Asuka and Kairi Sane dropped the Women's Tag Team Championship to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. Not long after, The Empress of Tomorrow shared that she had been dealing with a knee injury for a while and while he could handle it before, she needed some rest now. The former champion has since undergone surgery, but she should not rush her recovery.

#1. Seth Rollins is facing chronic issues

Aside from Asuka, another fearless superstar that worked through his injury was Seth Rollins. Many are aware that he wasn't 100% at WrestleMania XL and just two months later, he already returned. However, it looks like his absence now will be a bit longer.

After officiating CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins was attacked by Bronson Reed on the following episode of RAW and was on the receiving end of six Tsunamis. It was later reported that this was a way to write him off from television due to "chronic issues."

Currently, there is no return date for Rollins, hinting that he could be out for a long time before making his return to get his revenge on Reed.
