5 Wrestlers from ROH that WWE should sign but not change

Marty Scurll has taken his 'Villain' character to much success in ROH and NJPW.

If you take a look at the current main roster and that of NXT, chances are you'll realize that a good portion of the talent had runs in Ring of Honor.

Guys like Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn spent significant portions of their career in ROH before joining the WWE.

And before he became popular in WWE, CM Punk was one of the first guys from ROH to be given a shot.

NXT currently has Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong, Kassius Ohno, the War Raiders, Keith Lee (briefly) and Tomasso Ciampa, while 205 Live has Lio Rush, Mike Kanellis (Bennett) and Cedric Alexander who wrestled in ROH.

Donovan Dijak and Punishment Martinez are also signed to NXT, but haven't been featured yet. Dijak has had a few matches on TV while Martinez signed within the last month and a half.

Some have loosely considered ROH to be a feeding system for WWE. While that might partially be the case, ROH has been able to increase its profile with its partnership with both CMLL and NJPW.

Who on the ROH roster will stay with the promotion that gave them a chance? Who will WWE next look to pry away from the burgeoning promotion?

#5 Flip Gordon

Gordon has only been wrestling since 2015, but is already one of the most exciting.
Gordon has only been wrestling since 2015, but is already one of the most exciting.

This guy is amazing. Gordon has proven in his three years of a professional that bigger things are definitely in his future. But how soon in his future?

Gordon first chose to serve his country, spending six years in the of the United States Army National Guard.

Once those six years were over, Gordon turned his eyes to another passion - pro wrestling. He started out as a smiling, crowd-pleasing babyface. His acrobatics and impressive agility quickly won over the fans. Recently, however, we've been able to see a more serious side in his feud with Bully Ray.

Bully sees smaller guys like Gordon as 'young lions/boys' and that they aren't fit to lace his boots.

It's been perfect. Flip has still used his high-flying ability but has also been able to brawl and show his toughness.

Gordon has seen so much success so quickly, joining the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors Tournament this year. If he did opt to sign with WWE, he should only do so if he wasn't confined to 205 Live. Some people might think he would be perfect for it, but he's too talented to be left on that show.

Guys like Gordon, Ricochet, Will Ospreay and even Neville (before he sat out) are too good for that show.

#4 Adam Page

Hangman Page has grown as a performer since joining the Bullet Club.
Hangman Page has grown as a performer since joining the Bullet Club.

Adam Page has mainly been a heel during his ROH tenure and has been part of the Decade and Bullet Club factions.

He is country strong and is even able to pull off some high-flying moves like a shooting star press off the ring curtain.

He's been a midcard staple in ROH and has made a sizable dent in NJPW with the Bullet Club.

Whether he's tagged with members of his faction or wrestled by himself, he's had great matches with the likes of Jay Lethal, Tomohiro Ishii, Kenny Omega and members of Los Ingobernables de Japon.

Page's character is a little less defined than those like Marty Scurll and Dalton Castle, but he's a damn impressive guy to watch nonetheless.

He could easily start out as a no-nonsense brawler who becomes an important part of a faction or enforcer for another wrestler like The Miz or another cowardly heel.

He'd be popular regardless of alignment and his wrestling style. Just watch him do his standing moonsault/double kicks to the chest combo.

#3 Dalton Castle

Could Dalton Castle bring his boys to WWE?
Could Dalton Castle bring his boys to WWE?

If there was ever someone who understood character work as a professional wrestler, it would be Dalton Castle.

He did graduate with a degree in communications and theatre, so it's easy to understand why his character is put together so well. His style is that of an amateur wrestler and counter wrestling mainly because he was an amateur wrestler in high school and in college.

He went from being a talented grappler with two young valets acting as his man-servants to one of the most popular acts in ROH.

His ambiguous character reminds some of Liberace and David Bowie in popular culture and Adrian Street, Gorgeous George and Goldust in the annals of wrestling history.

He was so popular that he defeated Cody for the ROH World Title last December. Injuries caught up to him so he had to drop the title to former rival Jay Lethal in June of this year.

Triple H obviously has a close eye on the goings-on of ROH, so could he sign Castle?

If they did, they'd need to let him be himself. He's a bit over the top like Goldust was in his main runs. He might have to leave the boys behind, though. He could still be the flashy, flamboyant powerhouse he has proven to be during his matches.

#2 Marty Scurll

'Villain Club' is in full swing.
'Villain Club' is in full swing.

Like Castle, 'The Villain' is already a well-defined character. He's good on the mic and has been great in matches whether it be high-flying, mat-based or submission-based. His matches with Will Ospreay in NJPW have been great as have his matches with Jay Lethal, Castle and Kenny King in ROH.

He doesn't always mean to 'cause a spot of bother', but knowing his character, he usually does.

He's clearly a performer rather than just a wrestler and Vince loves those guys. He calls them sports entertainers rather than pro wrestlers. Scurll just happens to be great at both.

Like Gordon, though, he shouldn't be pigeonholed onto 205 Live. A lot of the guys on that show are great wrestlers without much character definition. Like many fans can attest, he is already one of the most popular characters in the sport. Let him be the Villain we all love to hate and love to love.

#1 The Young Bucks

Is it finally time for Matt and Nick Jackson to join the global juggernaut?
Is it finally time for Matt and Nick Jackson to join the global juggernaut?

This signing would have to be totally dependent on three things.

First, they would probably only go if Kenny Omega did as well. There have been rumors regarding this, but we'll have to wait until January of next year to see if it was truth or just smoke and mirrors.

Secondly, they'd have to go straight to the main roster, or initially have like a sixth-month run in NXT. They don't need the seasoning, but WWE might want them to get some 'WWE Style' seasoning first.

Thirdly, they must stay as a tag team and hopefully convince Vince/Triple H to push tag team wrestling like they have the women's division. The Bucks are the best tag team in the world and aren't just two singles' wrestlers thrown together. There fluidity together and seamless transitions from move to moves is the pinnacle of the art form.

They could help be one of the teams to help rebuild and bring more focus the tag divisions on Raw and Smackdown along with the Usos, New Day, the Bar and the Club.

There are already built-in feuds they could play on. Finn Balor and AJ Styles were both leaders of the Bullet Club. Gallows and Anderson are still kicking around. Have them join a faction with one or all of those guys or just have them put on some of the best tag wrestling you've ever seen like they have been doing for years.

Just don't change their names, send them to 205 Live or try to split them up. They've demonstrated that they're perfectly fine wrestling on their own terms. They've made plenty of money and showed that they can help put on a great show like All In. They need WWE a lot less than WWE needs them.
