5 Reasons why Aleister Black should challenge Andrade for the United States Championship

Over the past six months, we’ve seen two Superstars who moved from NXT to the main roster over a year ago make a name for themselves on the Red brand.

Andrade, who has been a top Superstar for the company for some time, managed to defeat Rey Mysterio to win his first title out of NXT. As the United States Champion, Andrade seems to be fitting into his role well and fans have been appreciating the fact that he’s being given a title run.

On the other hand, Aleister Black has become the most lethal performer on the Red brand and has managed to amass an even bigger fan following. Apart from Drew McIntyre, fans were counting on Black to win the Royal Rumble and take Brock Lesnar down for the WWE Championship.

While the scene for the WWE Championship seems to be shaping up already, the United States Championship scene is still wide open. With that in mind, it feels like Black should aim for El Idolo and his title at the moment to get ahead on RAW.

In this article, we will look at the five reasons why The Striking Man from Amsterdam should be the next challenger to Andrade’s United States Championship.

#5 Andrade needs a solid rivalry

The creatives have failed to make Andrade's reign memorable
The creatives have failed to make Andrade's reign memorable

Andrade won the United States title from Rey Mysterio at the end of December last year during a live show. The change of title was well-received by the fans as it’s not often that we see Championships change hands during untelevised shows.

Andrade has always been an impressive athlete and wrestler, and he deserved to win a title to stay on top of the Red brand.

However, since winning the title, he’s just had a couple of start-stop rivalries with Rey Mysterio and Humberto Carrillo and even lost in a few non-title matches.

While holding the title, the creatives decided to put him in a tag team with Angel Garza and chase the RAW Tag Team Championships rather than defend his title at WrestleMania 36.

This has been rather odd, considering the fact that Andrade was getting some good rivalries and matches before he won the title. While he was expected to raise the value of the title with some incredible rivalries, he hasn’t been able to do so yet.

Having a rivalry with someone like Aleister Black could help the title and the Superstar to show what he’s made of and give fans a great feud for the secondary title.

#4 Aleister Black needs a new rivalry

Black needs a longterm plan
Black needs a longterm plan

Aleister Black came onto the main roster with a lot of hope, and fans immediately began to see him as the next top Champion of the Red brand.

Even though he switched brands a couple of times, the Superstar continued to dominate each and every Superstar he came across and made an immediate impact with his performances. Black is one man who has managed to make squash matches look grander and more entertaining than they are, and have given it his all in the ring.

However, Black has been starved of great rivalries, and we’ve only seen him have feuds with Cesaro, Buddy Murphy, AJ Styles, and Bobby Lashley. At one point during the Royal Rumble match this year, fans thought that he’d be injected into the rivalry between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins’ faction, but that too never materialized.

We’ve seen stars like Angel Garza and Austin Theory appear on RAW recently and get greater storylines which raises the question as to why RAW isn’t giving Black a big rivalry.

Black has already run through a few top Superstars on RAW, and he needs a new long-term rivalry on RAW, especially for a Championship.

#3 They’ve unfinished business from NXT

Andrade and Zelina Vega did not waste much time when they decided to call out Drew McIntyre and remind him that Andrade was the man who defeated The Scottish Psychopath for the NXT Championship.

What Aleister Black can remind Andrade on RAW is the fact that Black was the man who defeated Andrade for the NXT Championship, after he held the title for over four months.

Soon after his loss, he was moved from NXT to SmackDown and could not come after The Dutch Destroyer to get his title back. But the two men had a good rivalry for the title before Black went on to take the title away from El Idolo.

Keeping that in mind, we could see the two men engage in another longer and better rivalry for a title on the main roster and make things for the United States Championship more interesting.

Andrade and Black are two of the best exports from NXT, and a rivalry between the two Superstars for the US title could help elevate the value of the title and give the two Superstars a chance to stay on top of RAW.

#2 The numbers game can help build Black

Andrade now has backup to give Black a tough time
Andrade now has backup to give Black a tough time

Andrade and Zelina Vega have recently found like-minded Superstars in the form of Angel Garza and Austin Theory. Both Superstars have joined El Idolo and we’ve seen them take down other Superstars who have crossed their paths.

This has allowed RAW to get another heel faction at a time when ‘The Monday Night Messiah’” Seth Rollins’ faction seems to be over for now, while The O.C. has become the past.

The new faction is targetting Superstars together, and Aleister Black could be on their list as one of the top faces on the brand. Black is set to take on Theory next week for a spot in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and we can expect Garza and Andrade to play some role in that match to make sure Theory wins.

If that ends up happening, Black could take down the three men and go after Andrade and his title as an act of revenge. Black has already gone up against factions, as Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson helped AJ Styles hand The Striking Man from Amsterdam his first and only loss on RAW, and he could build up another good story with another heel faction.

The overall impact could help Black become and even bigger Superstar and a rivalry against Andrade and his followers followed by a title win will only add to his credibility as a top star.

#1 Aleister Black is ready for another title reign

Black has already defeated the former WWE Champion

Since he arrived in WWE, Aleister Black has managed to make a huge name for himself. The Dutch Superstar has managed to build up a huge fan following and become one of the top faces of the company.

His reign in NXT, followed by his NXT Championship reign, made him a big Superstar to look out for and he was one of the biggest Superstars to move from NXT to the main roster. Apart from the NXT Championship, Black hasn’t won any other Championship in NXT, RAW, or SmackDown.

Black has been on RAW and SmackDown for over a year now but he hasn’t managed to secure a big rivalry for a Championship, let alone win one.

This is surprising for a Superstar of his caliber as many other Superstars such as Ricochet, who made the move with him, have managed to bag successful title reigns and get some time at the top.

Fans are enjoying Drew McIntyre’s first top Championship victory since his return to RAW, and another Superstar who deserves a title run on the main roster is Aleister Black.

McIntyre deserves to hold his WWE Championship for some time now, and WWE can test out his potential successor by giving The Dutch Destroyer a United States Championship run to get him ready for a bigger duty later on.
