WWE SummerSlam is almost here, and a new match has been made official for the epic Premium Live Event. The Biggest Party of The Summer will see the return of two top stars in action: CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.

CM Punk was injured during the 2024 Men's Royal Rumble Match almost seven months ago and was consigned to the bench. However, The Best in The World has finally been cleared to compete. Meanwhile, Adam Pearce suspended Drew McIntyre following the latter's actions in Canada. However, The Scottish Warrior has been reinstated and will lock horns with The Straight Edge Superstar at SummerSlam next month.

There is a wrinkle, however. Due to how Drew McIntyre has treated referees and both men's clear disregard for rules, the RAW GM has insisted the match needs a special enforcer. Enter Seth Rollins.

The Visionary will be the Special Guest Referee for the SummerSlam showdown between Punk and McIntyre, which has intensified the interest in what is already a highly anticipated bout. This article will take a look at a handful of ways Seth may influence the impending match, which could mean upsetting fans or one of the stars in particular.

Below are four things Seth Rollins could do as the Special Guest Referee during CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam:

#4. He could call it down the middle

A referee's job in pro wrestling isn't easy, especially in the chaotic world of WWE. In theory, the job of the referee is to be impartial and to enforce the rules. In the wacky world of wrestling, however, there is a lot of chaos, interference, weapons, and drama.

Still, the referee's job remains the same, and Seth Rollins as the Special Guest Referee should, in theory, aim to be as much like a standard official as possible.

While Drew McIntyre and CM Punk both hate The Visionary, and the feelings appear to be mutual on his end, Seth may keep things fair and call the match down the middle. This means neither man will have a chance to whine later on.

#3. Seth Rollins could cost Drew McIntyre the win at WWE SummerSlam

Drew McIntyre is one of the most dominant stars in WWE. Physically, very few can measure up to The Scottish Psychopath. If that wasn't enough, he has become one of the best on the microphone, too.

McIntyre and Seth Rollins share plenty of history. They fought over the World Heavyweight Championship last year, but things got far more intense and serious during the Road to WrestleMania XL. The Scottish Warrior later dethroned The Architect at The Show of Shows.

As a result, Rollins may see this as an opportunity to get revenge on McIntyre for all of the latter's trash talk and past behavior. In a move that may stun fans, Rollins could take Drew out with a Pedigree and make sure CM Punk wins the match at SummerSlam.

#2. He could live up to his promise and assault CM Punk

Seth Rollins is one of the greatest in-ring performers ever, but so is CM Punk. The two have quite a few similarities, thanks to their personas and their obvious in-ring skills.

However, The Visionary and The Best in The World are far from being friends. Before The Straight Edge Superstar's return to WWE last year, Rollins would continually talk trash about him. Their animosity has lingered ever since.

The duo had a heated verbal altercation on RAW a few weeks ago after Punk cost Rollins the World Heavyweight Title at Money in the Bank. Seth even promised Punk that he would put the latter on the bench after The Second City Saint got medically cleared.

At SummerSlam, Seth may use his power to keep his promise and brutally attack Punk, re-injuring the latter's bad arm.

#1. The Visionary could lay both men out and end the match inconclusively

The final possible outcome would upset many fans, but it is very possible. It is arguably the most likely outcome of the upcoming showdown between Punk and Drew at SummerSlam 2024. Seth Rollins may end up attacking both men.

Fans would be furious if a high-profile match ended in a No Contest, but that may be how things end up. Seth hates CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, and Adam Pearce knows that. It is a risk the RAW General Manager is taking.

That risk may backfire, however, as Rollins could snap if the two disrespect him and lay them both out with, possibly, a steel chair. Since he's the referee, he could then count both men out or rule the match a No Contest, making sure neither gets a victory. It would be crushing for both stars, but The Visionary isn't above doing it for that exact reason.
