Kevin Owens has been one of WWE's top superstars for almost ten years. The Prizefighter has achieved more than most superstars ever dream of, going from defeating John Cena in his first match to winning the Universal Championship and headlining two editions of WrestleMania. Despite all that, there has always been a lingering feeling that he is not being used to his full potential.

Thus, with Owens' current WWE deal reportedly coming to an end soon, fans are wondering if he will renew his contract or go somewhere else. The 40-year-old star's friendship with AEW EVPs The Young Bucks is common knowledge, and the prospect of joining them could be tempting. However, The Prizefighter could decide to stay in the Stamford-based promotion, where he is a main eventer and has friends like Sami Zayn.

If Kevin Owens does renew his contract with the Stamford-based promotion, below are four things he must do.

#4. Kevin Owens must feud with CM Punk in WWE

Kevin Owens and CM Punk are known as two of the most beloved WWE Superstars by their peers backstage. However, the duo has been long suspected to have real-life heat resulting from their respective relationships with The Elite. Punk's issues with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega have become infamous, while Owens is said to be close with the AEW EVPs.

It would be a huge missed opportunity if this potential real-life heat was not explored as a storyline soon. The duo had a brief staredown on the Second City Saint's SmackDown return, teasing a future feud. They have the potential to offer a rivalry as personal if not more heated than the Best in the World's rivalry with Drew McIntyre.

#3. Kevin Owens must finally defeat Roman Reigns

Kevin Owens has been one of the biggest unsung heroes of The Bloodline storyline, facing the faction more than any other opponent. His star power has been used to put over names such as Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Jacob Fatu, but he has also found success, most notably ending The Usos' Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship reign in the main event of WrestleMania 39 alongside Sami Zayn.

However, Owens has not been able to climb his biggest hurdle: defeating Reigns one-on-one. The Prizefighter has faced The Original Tribal Chief four times since the latter adopted his new persona, and he has been defeated in every one of those bouts. Should KO renew his contract with WWE, finally getting one over on Reigns will be important to elevating the former to a whole new level.

#2. Kevin Owens must have at least one more storyline with Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are real-life best friends, former Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, and career "wrestling soulmate" rivals. The duo's tenures in the Stamford-based promotion have always been intertwined, and their legacies are incomplete without each other.

If Owens renews his contract with WWE, Triple H and Co. must showcase the history between him and Zayn in at least one more singles storyline. Whether it be another team-up or feud, the duo needs to wrap up their history in a proper fashion so that it does not end up as forever unfinished business in case either man leaves in the future.

#1. KO must have another World Championship reign in WWE

Kevin Owens won his first and only main roster world title in WWE in 2016, becoming the second-ever Universal Champion. He held the title for 188 days before infamously losing it to Goldberg in 22 seconds at Fastlane 2017. Although KO's reign was solid, the way it ended and some other booking decisions soured fans' perception of it.

The Prizefighter is yet to win a world title in the Triple H era, something fans are desperate to see him do. Many people believe that The Game would give him the kind of reign his talent deserves, righting the previous wrongs. Should Owens renew his contract with WWE, another world title reign should be one of the top priorities of everyone involved.

Who knows, KO might be the one to dethrone Cody Rhodes in the future.
