Weightlifter Sufna Jasmin has put in an incredible performance to break not one but two national records at the National Weightlifting Championships. Sufna broke both the previous snatch and total lift records in the women's 45kg category on Monday (October 7).

The Kerala-born wrestler lifted 76kg to set the new national snatch record. By recording a total lift of 169kg, she then went on to register another new record. With this feat, Sufna broke the previous national record created by Dipali Gursale at the National Games last year.

Sufna Jasmin has shown great potential in recent years and is a bright prospect for India in weightlifting. In 2023, she broke the total lift record of Jhilli Dalabehera and the snatch record of Komal Kohar. At the time, she lifted 165kg total and 75kg in snatch to break the two mentioned records.

The competition runs from October 7 till October 13. By the end of day 2, there have already been numerous performances that would have impressed wrestling fans.
