“Time to head to Turkey Papi” - NHL fans react to Auston Matthews pic focusing on his hairline

Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews was the subject of some good-natured fun by fans. In a picture, Matthews is shown sitting by a swimming pool, donning a sleek pair of sunglasses. However, what caught fans’ attention was his hairline.

This observation prompted the following caption on the main post, confirmed by multiple sources:

"That forehead is getting slightly out of hand."

The comment has set off a flurry of comments on social media, with some fans making hilarious suggestions to the Maple Leafs sniper.

Of course, not all comments poked fun at the former Hart Trophy winner. Many fans showed their love and support for the Leafs’ superstar.

"He’s an icon," one fan tweeted.
"More to smooch!!" A fan tweeted.
"Leave him alone," Another fan tweeted.

Matthews appears to enjoy some time off as the summer season kicks into high gear. However, Matthews and the Leafs should be ready as fall rolls around for next season. In the meantime, Matthews has earned a break from the rigors of playing NHL hockey for most of the year.

No coddling for Auston Matthews

A piece in The Hockey News explored the impact that Craig Berube’s hiring could have on the Maple Leafs’ leadership group. In particular, the piece states, “no coddling of the leadership group.” This statement indicates that Berube is not expected to take it easy on his leaders on and off the ice.

While it is not expected that Berube will remove John Tavares as captain or take Auston Matthews’ A away, he won’t be bending down to his players’ desires.

"The days of coddling players in Toronto are over now that Berube is in charge, and the people he wants leading the way in the locker room are likely to change as well," the piece reads.

In other words, Berube expects players like Matthews to step up and be the team leaders in the locker room and on the ice. If not, Berube may need to shake things up and find players who can deliver for the team to succeed in the regular season and playoffs.

Given how Berube is unwilling to cater to players’ egos, Matthews and company should check their pride at the door and play hard for the team’s sake under Berube.
