The Johnny Gaudreau memorial outside of the Scotiabank Saddledome has continued to grow in the wake of the NHL star's death this week. Fans flocked to the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary to pay tribute to the NHL star. In addition to memorials of flowers, fans also wrote messages of support for the Gaudreau family in chalk on the sidewalk.

The steps leading up to the West entrance of the Scotiabank Saddledome were lined with gifts as well, from candy and Gatorade to notes, and of course, hockey sticks. On Saturday morning, photos and videos from the memorial began to circulate online.

Fans started reacting to this post:

"I don’t know whether to cry or smile…." - Another wrote
"This is exactly what I was hoping to wake up to this morning. I hope the Gaudreau’s know how much Johnny meant to the #CofRed" - One added

Others weighed in on Gaudreau's impact:

"Johnny Hockey meant so much to so many people whether they knew him personally or not. It's just not fair at all that he's gone" - One wrote
"I got there around 8 myself and it was even bigger. Stayed for around 40 minutes, just watching it grow. People were even driving by playing Johnny Be Good. He was still our boy even after he left, despite the initial upset. So many tears and broken hearts there tonight" - One wrote

After attending a wedding rehearsal for their sister on Thursday afternoon, ahead of a Friday wedding where they were both going to be groomsmen, Gaudreau and his brother Matthew went on a bike ride.

During the ride, 43-year-old New Jersey resident Sean Higgins, who failed a field sobriety test on-site, attempted to pass two cars, resulting in an accident that led to the death of the Gaudreau brothers.
