Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl spent time with family and friends throughout the offseason. From his engagement to attending captain Connor McDavid’s destination wedding in Muskoka, Ontario, Draisaitl has been busy. His fiancee Celeste Desjardins has been hopping with him from one event to another.

On Sunday, Desjardins shared a story from Lauren Kyle and Connor McDavid’s wedding celebrations on her Instagram. Draisaitl and Desjardins were part of the event and shared memorable moments.

However, it was her second story that immediately drew the attention of fans. Desjardins posted a cryptic text:

“Bye Cologne. Off to meet @laurenkyle1 in France to look at venues.”

But Desjardins did not mention the venues she would be visiting with Kyle. Draisaitl organized a surprise engagement party for his partner in Mallorca, Spain. The Oilers forward proposed to her in a beach setting, and the couple announced their engagement on Jul. 10.

“The easiest yes. I love you forever,” Celeste Desjardins wrote in an Instagram post.

The engagement party included members from both families, including Leon Draisaitl’s mother, Sandra, and his dad, Peter Draisaitl. The guests dined in a beach-side resort and celebrated the newly-engaged couple.

Leon Draisaitl celebrates sister Kim Draisaitl’s wedding

Leon Draisaitl’s sister, Kim, has tied the knot with German field hockey professional Niklas Wellen. Wellen is the forward for Bundesliga club Crefelder HTC and won the silver medal with his national team in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is a two-time Olympic medalist, with his first medal coming in bronze in the 2016 Summer Games.

Draisaitl posted a carousel of pictures from his sister’s wedding on his Instagram account on Monday.

“Congratulations Kimi & Nikkl," he captioned the post (translated from German by Google Translate).

The pictures showed Kim and Niklas dressed up in wedding attire. Kim wore a beautiful flowy white gown, while Wellen sported a tailor-made dark blue suit. Peter Draisatl, dressed in a black tuxedo, walked his daughter down the aisle.

In another snap, Sandra Draisaitl can be seen helping Kim with her wedding gown. Leon shared a short clip of him sitting at the chapel steps with his nephew, Kim and Niklas’ one-year-old son, and Celeste.

Wellen and his partner welcomed their only child earlier last year. It was when the German field hockey forward was with his national team, competing at the 2023 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup in India. Germany went on to win the tournament, and Niklas became World Champion and a dad in the same year.
