Goaltender Jake Oettinger's wife, Kennedi, had a wholesome reaction to his new $66 million contract extension with the Dallas Stars. She reposted a video shared by the team on Instagram to share her excitement and wrote:

"We are so so excited to stay in Dallas for 8 more years!!!!"
"So proud of you @jake30oettinger," she added.

The contract extension keeps Oettinger with the Stars for eight more years, starting in the 2025-26 season. The $66 million contract has an average annual value of $8.25 million.

After four years of dating, Oettinger proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Kennedi Schumacher, in 2023. They began dating in childhood and their relationship grew stronger over the years. Kennedi works as a finance and marketing specialist. She often shares sweet moments from their relationship on Instagram.

The couple married on Jun. 29 in an oceanfront wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Kennedi wore a stunning dress by Ines Di Santo, and they celebrated with friends and family. Jake posted pictures of his wedding on Instagram with the caption:

"Married my best friend! Thanks to everyone who made it the best week of our life."

Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill praised Jake Oettinger calling him an "integral part"

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill praised Jake Oettinger, calling him one of the NHL's elite goaltenders.

"He (Jake) is an integral part of our core that will allow us to contend for the Stanley Cup this season, but also for many years to come." Nill said per NHL.com. "Off the ice, Jake is a leader in our team’s community efforts and is always willing to give his time and resources. I’m pleased that Jake and his wife Kennedi will be part of our family for many years to come.”

Oettinger’s numbers back up the praise. He ranks in the top 10 among NHL goalies since 2020-21 for wins (116) and goals-against average (2.49). He has 23 wins in the playoffs, tying him for second-most over the last three years. He was also selected for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto.

Oettinger has been a key player for the team. He has a record of 116-48-23 in 196 regular-season games, with a .914 save percentage and 11 shutouts.
