TSN Analyst Craig Button shared his views on Connor Bedard's chances of making Team Canada for the 4-Nations Face-Off. Bedard, a 19-year-old center for the Chicago Blackhawks, impressed during his rookie season. He aims to build on that success this year.

However, Button is skeptical about Bedard's inclusion due to the strong competition in Team Canada’s forward lineup.

"I listen. I'm glad that there's not a dope in it, because I'd probably be the face of it. So I'm going to say Nope," Button said.

He pointed out that it might be too early for him to join the team.

Coach Bruce Boudreau offered a different perspective. He thinks Bedard could serve as a valuable 13th forward. Boudreau mentioned that if a top player gets injured, Bedard could step in. He also pointed out the importance of gaining experience.

"...It's good experience for him for the future, because he's going to be there for probably the next 12 years...," Boudreau said.

Canada's roster already includes stars like Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid. Bedard's place is not guaranteed, but a strong start to the season could help his chances. If he performs well, he might earn a spot on the team, showing the depth of talent in Canada’s hockey program.

The 4-Nations Face-Off will be in Montreal and Boston from February 12 to 20. The tournament will feature top players from Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Each country has named six players, with more to come as the tournament approaches.

What can we expect from Connor Bedard after his impressive rookie season?

Connor Bedard had a strong rookie season with the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring 61 points in 68 games. He scored 22 goals and 39 assists and was drafted first overall in 2023.

He earned the Calder Trophy and made the All-Rookie Team. However, his defensive skills and physical play raised some concerns. His plus-minus rating was minus-44, the worst in the league.

There are high expectations for Connor Bedard next season. He aims to score more than one point per game. Bedard's strong start sets him up for future success, with hopes of reaching 100 points soon. His development will be important as the competition in the NHL increases.
