Who tops the 2024-25 NHL Super 16 rankings?

The NHL.com Super 16 rankings are out as the 2024-25 training camps have begun. All 32 teams are hopeful as they start with a clean slate, but not every team has the same reasons for optimism.

The Florida Panthers lead the NHL Super 16 rankings with 236 points. Last season's champions have a strong roster, led by Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk. Despite losing key defensemen, they’re still seen as strong contenders.

The Edmonton Oilers are in second place with 217 points. Last season's runners-up have added forwards Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson, while Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl will continue to lead the team.

The Dallas Stars came in No. 3 with 206 points. They have kept most of their core from last season, which saw them reach the Western Conference Finals. Adding defenseman Matthew Dumba is a key move.

The New York Rangers are No. 4 with 190 points. They’ve kept their roster mostly intact. The Boston Bruins came in at No. 5 with 177 points, after adding Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov.

Teams like the Winnipeg Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning are dealing with uncertainty after losing key players, while the Los Angeles Kings and New York Islanders round out the NHL Super 16. The Detroit Red Wings and Washington Capitals received honorable mentions.
