In a concerning turn of events for the LA Kings, defenseman Drew Doughty exited Wednesday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights in the first period following an awkward collision with Tanner Pearson.

During the play, Doughthy's leg got entangled with the Golden Knights forward, leading to an inability to apply weight to the left leg as he was assisted off the ice by the medical team.

The Kings later confirmed that Doughty would not return to the game due to a lower-body injury. As of now, the severity of the injury remains unclear.

"Defenseman Drew Doughty will not return to tonight’s game due to a lower-body injury."

Doughty will be entering the 17th season with the LA Kings. He was drafted No. 2 overall by the club in the 2008 NHL draft.
