NHL fans on the internet thrashed the Toronto Maple Leafs for gifting a customized jersey to Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

This comes after Guerrero Jr. was spotted with a Maple Leafs hat before his team secured a 7-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday at Fenway Park in Boston.

The Blue Jays on their official X/Twitter revealed that Guerrero Jr. acquired the Maple Leafs hat from a Jays fan in exchange for an autographed baseball.

After the transaction, the third baseman expressed his desire for a hockey jersey similar to the one his teammate, George Springer, received earlier this season.

“I need my own hockey jersey, like my friend George Springer 🤣," said Guerrero Jr.

In response to Guerrero's request, the Maple Leafs gifted the Blue Jays star a personalized jersey.

Meanwhile, NHL fans on X/Twitter reacted with many criticizing the Maple Leafs for giving Guerrero Jr. an outdated jersey. As one commented:

"Sending him out of date Adidas jersey, doesn’t even look authentic. Cheap a*s Leafs."
"Fanatics gonna be mad you're still using Adidas stock," wrote another fan.

Here are some of the other top reactions on X.

One humorously tweeted:

"Someone tell him there’s 6 other NHL teams in Canada, he could pick one that has a chance of winning instead of the leafs."
"That guy and Matthews have combined for 0 goals pass Rnd 1 in there playoffs career!" another fan commented.
"Still using adidas and number 27 has been retired. I guess that means nothing anymore lol," one X user commented.
"Hilarious that he had to go all the way to Boston for it LMAO. Give Vladdy a hockey jersey!" tweeted another.

Toronto Maple Leafs stars practice batting with Blue Jays

Toronto Maple Leafs stars Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and Morgan Rielly practiced batting with the Blue Jays two years ago ahead of their game against the New York Yankees.

When Marner was asked about his expectations for Matthews' opening pitch during the game, he said (via THN):

"I'm sure he'll do great with the throw. It'll be fun if he does chunk it or throw like s*."
