Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie recently shared a video of teammate Trevor van Riemsdyk attempting a 60-foot putt during a team dinner, and Oshie posted the clip on Instagram with the caption:

"Do the @capitals have fun? @tvanriemsdyk6 with the 60 ft. putt through the middle of team dinner. #Rieeeeemeeeerrr."

In the video, a paper cup was placed at the far end of an aisle. Tables and chairs lined both sides, with diners leaning over, watching van Riemsdyk go for a shot. The whole room was focused on him as he prepared for the putt. As soon as he hit the ball, the spectators started chanting "hey, hey" as the ball slowly rolled toward the cup.

When the ball finally went into the cup, the room erupted with cheers. It was a lighthearted moment showing how the Capitals enjoyed time together off the ice.

The Capitals may be serious about hockey, but this clip shows the team knows how to have fun, too. TJ Oshie makes no secret that he is a big fan of golf, and he has frequently been seen playing in charity tournaments and at July's American Century Championship. Oshie is good at golf and his favorite course is TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.

When the Washington Capitals’ 2023-24 season ended with a playoff sweep, TJ Oshie took an extra lap on the ice. He wanted to say goodbye to the fans and his family. This moment felt special, as it might have been his last time on the ice.

Two days later, Oshie spoke at the media event. He shared that his long-term back issues left his future uncertain. The Capitals did not update his status over the summer. Before training camp started, the team confirmed that Oshie is injured and will not be playing. He is expected to go on the Long Term Injured Reserve list for the 2024-25 season. This move means his $5.75 million salary will not count against the salary cap.

Previously after the season ended, Oshie said the season was tough for him because of his injury. Per the Washington Post:

“The last season was challenging for me, my family, and my teammates as I dealt with a chronic back injury that kept me out of the lineup,” Oshie said.

As training camp began and he was not on the ice, it became clear he would not return. Oshie has played 1,010 NHL regular-season games, scoring 302 goals and 393 assists.
