At the fifth Zach Hyman Celebrity Classic Golf event, Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid talked about his involvement in Leon Draisaitl's proposal to Celeste Desjardins. The proposal took place on July 11, 2024, and McDavid expressed his happiness for his friend and teammate.
During the event, a reporter asked McDavid if Draisaitl had asked him for proposal advice.
"No, I haven't seen him yet. Looking forward to seeing him. It'll be nice for him to get home, spend some time with his family. Obviously a big step in his life - happy for him," McDavid said.
McDavid and Draisaitl are close friends both on and off the ice.
Connor McDavid, who is engaged to Lauren Kyle, will tie the knot on July 24.
Leon Draisaitl and Celeste Desjardins have been dating since 2018.
Desjardins is an actress known for roles in 'The Bold Type,' 'Good Witch,' and 'Flower Shop Mysteries.'

Connor McDavid comments on Oilers' offseason acquisitions
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid praised interim GM Jeff Jackson for his work during his short tenure. McDavid commended the management staff for retaining players.
“I thought the whole management staff did a great job. They’ve had a great offseason so far. It’s been short, it’s been hurried, but in the small time they’ve had, they’ve done great things. Keeping as many guys together (as they did) is a good thing,” McDavid said.
Now, the Oilers will try to finally lift the Stanley Cup in the upcoming season after losing to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final last season.
