Mark Giordano's NHL career will likely continue despite a tough 2023-24 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Injuries kept him to 46 games, with three goals and nine points. Many thought he might retire, but he wants to keep playing. Recent reports say several teams are interested as he nears his 41st birthday.

His agent confirmed that multiple teams are interested, including the Buffalo Sabres.

“In Buffalo, who we’re talking to, they’ve got young kids who could benefit. They’re a little worried with his pedigree, will he be happy with the ice time, will he be happy if he’s a part-time player,” Winter said via Flames Talk on Friday. “Ultimately, Gio has to make a decision as to what will help him accomplish his goals.”

NHL fans reacted to this on X.

"40 years old? No thanks," one fan tweeted.
"i don’t understand signing giordano at all unless a defenseman were to get moved," another fan tweeted.
"So the question is, does he want to win or be close to home? Because the Sabres only offer the latter," one X user tweeted.

Take a look at some more reactions from fans on X.

"Please stay away, we don’t need a slow defenceman," one fan tweeted.
"Giordano, I am a Sabres fan. Please go to the Oilers. Thank you," a fan tweeted.
"Let him go to Toronto or Edmonton," a fan tweeted.

The Sabres have a young defense and could use Giordano's experience. However, his limited ice time raises questions about his role and decision.

Mark Giordano's agent discusses defenseman's future

Mark Giordano's agent, Ritch Winter, also shared insights on the defenseman's future.

"He's looking to win. Even Gio doesn't think he has 10 years left, so you want to try and win," he said in the same podcast.

Winter discussed potential teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Calgary Flames. However, Flames manager Craig Conroy "didn't seem like he had much interest" in bringing Giordano back to Calgary. Winter expressed disappointment:

"I think he missed the mark ... What better player do you know than Gio to be a mentor to a bunch of young kids?"

Giordano now faces a key decision. He could return to Toronto, join the young Sabres, or pursue a championship with Edmonton. He must decide soon, as time is running out to achieve his goal.
