Kyle Okposo, born on April 16, 1988, is a professional ice hockey winger for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League (NHL). Notably, he was selected seventh overall by the New York Islanders in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Okposo went on to play for the Islanders till the 2015-16 season before signing a seven-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres.

Prior to that, Okposo had a standout season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Des Moines Buccaneers, earning both the most valuable player of the USHL playoffs and the league's top rookie honors. He also played a pivotal role in leading the Buccaneers to a Clark Cup victory. Transitioning to the University of Minnesota, Okposo found himself playing center despite being a natural winger due to the team's roster composition. Despite initially announcing his intention to return for another season at Minnesota, Okposo opted to sign a three-year entry-level contract with the Islanders on December 19, 2007. His nine season stay with the Islanders saw him produce 139 goals and 230 assists.

During his tenure with the Sabres, Okposo showcased his talent, representing the team at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game and serving as a key contributor on the ice. Despite battling injuries and facing criticism from fans, Okposo demonstrated resilience, particularly in the 2021–22 season, where he posted impressive numbers, including 21 goals and 24 assists. This performance led to his appointment as the 20th captain in Sabres history for the 2022–23 season. Even after completing his contract, Okposo's dedication to the Sabres persisted as he signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract extension in May 2023. His remarkable journey with the Sabres reached a milestone when he played his 1,000th NHL game on November 14, 2023. However, Okposo's chapter with the Sabres came to a close when he was traded to the Florida Panthers on March 8, 2024.
