Kyle Okposo is a professional ice hockey right winger in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Florida Panthers. Notably, he was selected seventh overall by the New York Islanders in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and has played for the Islanders and the Buffalo Sabres.


His journey commenced with the Shattuck-Saint Mary's in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) before continuing in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Des Moines Buccaneers, where he earned MVP of the USHL playoffs and top rookie honors. This was followed by a spell at University of Minnesota, where he played college hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's ice hockey team. At the same time while attending college, he was drafted by the Islanders in the 2006 draft and spent the following seasons between the AHL affiliate team of the Islanders and with the first team. Okposo played with the Islanders until 2016 after which he joined the Buffalo Sabres and represented them at the 2017 NHL All-Star Game before being appointed as the team's 20th captain for the 2022–23 season. However, his journey with the Sabres concluded when he was traded to the Florida Panthers on March 8, 2024.
