Leon Draisaitl leads Oilers to shootout victory over Canucks

The Oilers had a balanced offense in the game. Besides Leon Draisaitl, Corey Perry and Ben Gleason also scored. This win marked their second straight victory, bringing their pre-season record to 3-3. The Canucks, on the other hand, struggled and lost for the third time in a row. Arshdeep Bains and Nate Smith scored for Vancouver.

The first period was quiet, with no goals and only 15 shots combined. The action picked up in the second period. The Canucks scored first on a power play. Kiefer Sherwood assisted Bains, who scored past Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner. Edmonton tried to respond, but Perry's shot was saved by Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen.

In the third period, the Oilers found their rhythm. Perry tied the game early by scoring past Lankinen. The Oilers then took the lead with a power-play goal from Gleason. Connor McDavid set him up nicely. However, the Canucks quickly tied it again. Smith redirected a shot from Kirill Kudryavtsev, sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, Draisaitl made a key play. He stopped a possible game-winning shot by lifting Daniel Sprong's stick. This kept the game tied, leading to the shootout, where Leon Draisaitl scored the winning goal for Edmonton.

Next, the Canucks will host the Oilers again on Friday. Fans will get another chance to see Draisaitl's talent and the Oilers' push for pre-season success.
