The 2024-25 NHL season is through one week of action. Although teams have only played a couple of games, the early parts of the season are a good test to see how they may fare this season.

5 NHL teams that have impressed early in 2024/25 season

#1: Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are off to a 3-0 start and have been looking great.

Dallas has allowed just three goals this season and has recorded back-to-back shutouts. The Stars have been playing great defensively and in goal, while the offense has also been playing well.

Dallas looks like a legit Stanley Cup Contender.

#2: Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs were shut out 1-0 in its season opener. But, since then, the Maple Leafs have won back-to-back games, including an upset road win over New Jersey.

Toronto's offense has yet to break out, but the defense and goaltending have looked solid. It seems likely the offense will get going soon, which makes this Leafs team scary going forward.

#3: Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets are off to a 3-0 start and have been arguably the most dominant team in the NHL.

Winnipeg has scored 10 goals through three games, while the Jets have allowed just two. Connor Hellebuyck, reigning Vezina Trophy winner, is playing arguably the best hockey through three games.

#4: New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils are 3-1 and have been living up to the hype.

New Jersey was a popular preseason Cup pick since the Devils acquired Jacob Markstrom as their starting goalie. Goaltending has been an issue for the Devils in the past and now New Jersey has one of the league's best.

The Devils have scored 14 goals in four games, as the offense is one of the league's best.

#5: Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights are off to a 3-0 start and look like a legit Stanley Cup contender.

Vegas has 15 goals in three games, but the Golden Knights have only played at home. But Vegas has been good, and their roster appears to be as deep as their Stanley Cup-winning team.
