NHL arenas are state-of-the-art venues, as teams want to have the best arenas for fans to enjoy. Whether that is the location, the concourse or building around the arena, NHL teams want them to be nice.

However, some teams have arenas that need to be renovated to make it much better. Here are five NHL arenas that are in need of an overhaul.

5 NHL arenas that need a major overhaul

#1. Amerant Bank Arena

The Florida Panthers call Amerant Bank Arena home but it is time for the arena to get renovated.

The arena was opened in 1998 and was renovated in 2012 with a new lounge. However, it is time for the concourse to be renovated to make the game experience much better for Panthers fans.

Florida won the Stanley Cup this past season so the arena will likely be packed, and rewarding the fans with a newly updated arena makes a lot of sense.

#2. Canadian Tire Centre

The Ottawa Senators have been trying to get an arena in downtown Ottawa. But, if the Sens can't find a location for the arena, the team must renovate the Canadian Tire Centre.

The arena was built in 1996 and it is in desperate need of renovation. From the outside to the seating to the concourse, the arena practically needs to be re-done to compare to other NHL arenas.

But, with Ottawa still trying to build a new arena, renovations likely won't happen.

#3. KeyBank Center

The KeyBank Center is the home of the Buffalo Sabres but it is time for the team to renovate the arena.

The Buffalo Bills are building a new stadium, so it does seem unlikely that the Sabres would spend money in a renovation, as that would mean the city would have to give more public money.

That said, the KeyBank Center remains in need of a renovation to improve the concourse for fans to have a better experience.

#4. Canada Life Center

The Canada Life Center is the home of the Winnipeg Jets and is in the need for renovation.

The arena fits just 15,321 fans, which makes it one of the smallest arenas in the NHL. Winnipeg also struggled to sell out the arena this past season, so upgrading the concourse and venue could lead to people attending more games.

#5. SAP Center

The San Jose Sharks call SAP Center home. It was built in 1993 and the time has arrived for the arena to be renovated to get some much-needed improvements.

However, becuase of the high number of events scheduled in the Californian city, shutting down the arena for an extended period before the hockey season could be tough.
