Kostyuk secured a 6-3, 6-2 win over Rebeka Sramkova to book a second-round showdown against Daria Saville. The Ukrainian fell behind a break in the first set and couldn't recover, which cost her the set.

Saville surged ahead 5-2 in the second set but couldn't close out the match as Kostyuk mounted a comeback. The latter even saved a match point to force a tie-break, in which she pipped her opponent to take the set.

There were five service breaks across the first six games of the third set, with Kostyuk gaining the upper hand to lead 4-2. Saville later saved a match point to make it 5-4 and put the onus on the Ukrainian to serve out the contest. The latter needed another five match points but got the job done for a 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4 comeback win.
