Coco Gauff and Emma Navarro will clash in an all-American fourth-round showdown at the 2024 Wimbledon.

Gauff dropped three games each during her wins over Caroline Dolehide and Anca Todoni in the first two rounds. She faced qualifier and home favorite Sonay Kartal in the third round.

Gauff broke her opponent's serve to kick off the match, and held serve in the following game to solidify a 2-0 lead. However, Kartal was able to get back on serve to make it 4-4.

The American secured another break of serve to inch ahead 5-4 and then closed out the set in the following game to take a one-set lead. After a tough fight in the opener, Gauff faced no resistance in the second set as she raced to a 6-4, 6-0 win.

Navaro scored an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over Wang Qiang in her opener, and followed it up with a 6-4, 6-1 win over four-time Major champion Naomi Osaka. She took on Diana Shnaider in the third round, who beat her en route to the Bad Homburg title last week.

Shnaider was on course for an encore as she captured the first set. However, Navarro had other plans. The latter led by a break twice in the second set but couldn't consolidate the advantage. She secured a third break of serve and held on to the lead this time to claim the set.

The third set played out similarly. Navarro was in the lead twice but Shnaider pegged her back on both occasions. The American snagged a final break of serve in the ninth game and then served out the match for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback win.

Kartal gave a good account of herself but proved to be no match for the experienced Gauff in the end. The latter has now equaled her best-ever result at Wimbledon by reaching the fourth round.

Navarro was on the cusp of another defeat against Shnaider but turned the tables to reach the fourth round here for the first time and for the second time at a Major. The 23-year-old has been one of the most improved players on the WTA Tour this season.

Gauff easily outplayed Navarro in their prior and only encounter in Auckland earlier this year. However, the latter could upstage the former on grass, where she has shown great adaptability and acumen.

Navarro has the potential to rush Gauff's forehand and extract errors. She's a great mover around the court and matches her younger rival's speed and anticipation.

However, Gauff hasn't lost before the semifinals of a Major since her first-round exit from last year's Wimbledon. The odds are in her favor but Navarro's focused and consistent shotmaking could see her prevail in the end.
