Emma Navarro has praised fellow American Danielle Collins for her expressive on-court demeanor.

In her post-match press conference following a 6-3, 7-6(5) victory over Taylor Townsend in the National Bank Open quarterfinal in Toronto, the American tennis star discussed their differing on-court styles.

Navarro revealed that Collins’ unapologetic authenticity has been a significant source of inspiration for her. The World No. 15 shared that she aims to mirror Collins’ approach by staying true to herself during matches.

"We have very different on-court personalities, for sure, but I think she's taught me a little bit about how to just be yourself, and not everyone's going to like how you go about things, but don't let that get to you. She's, yeah, very outgoing and expressive on the court, and she's unapologetically herself, which I think is really cool," Navarro said.

Eighth seed Emma Navarro eventually got eliminated in the semifinals, where she lost 3-6, 6-2, 2-6 to compatriot Amanda Anisimova. The 23-year-old will now participate in the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, where she will take on Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva in the first round on August 12.
