3 reasons why Iga Swiatek hiring Wim Fissette could be a good move for the World No. 1

Iga Swiatek's search for a new coach following her split with Tomasz Wiktorowski has come to an end, and she has now added Wim Fissette to her team. She announced the decision on Thursday, October 17, and also confirmed her presence at the WTA Finals.

Swiatek was the first player to qualify for the WTA Finals in early August. However, she skipped the Asian swing following her quarterfinal exit from the US Open and then parted ways with her long-time coach Wiktorowski.

The Pole mentioned that she was on the lookout for a foreign coach this time, and Fissette was on the hunt for a new gig as well. His coaching agreement with Naomi Osaka also came to an end last month, who has since hired Patrick Mouratoglou.

Aside from Osaka, Fissette has also worked with the likes of Victoria Azarenka, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber, and Kim Clijsters, among others. He has the credentials for the job, and here's why working with him could prove to be the right move on Swiatek's part:

#1 - Players have tasted immediate success after working with Wim Fissette

If Fissette's past record is anything to go by, then Swiatek is due for another big title very soon. Players have often experienced an uptick in their form upon hiring the Belgian.

Clijsters returned from maternity leave in 2009 and added Fissette to her team. She won the US Open that year, just the third tournament of her comeback. Their partnership proved to be quite successful, and together they won the Australian Open in 2011, and the US Open and WTA Finals in 2010.
