Caroline Wozniacki's husband, David Lee, was on his feet as he enthusiastically celebrated the Dane's epic match point save in a 20-shot rally during her fourth-round match against Beatriz Haddad Maia at the 2024 US Open. However, it was the Brazilian who eventually won the topsy-turvy match 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals.

Wozniacki, who came out of retirement last year, was in scintillating form at Flushing Meadows, taking down Nao Hibino, Renata Zarazua, and Jessika Ponchet in straight sets to reach the fourth round for a second consecutive year. The 34-year-old lost to 22nd seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in a hard-fought three-setter, bringing an end to her campaign.

During the third set, with Haddad Maia leading 5-3 40-30 on her serve, Wozniacki produced an epic match point save. The Dane was on the backfoot for the majority of the rally, running from side to side. However, she made a remarkable recovery and hit a stunning backhand which the Brazilian couldn't reach.

Wozniacki's husband David Lee turned cheerleader and was on his feet to celebrate the epic point. He had a huge smile on his face as he applauded his wife's efforts.

Lee and Wozniacki met at a dinner party thrown by a mutual friend. They began dating in 2016 and tied the knot in 2019. The couple are parents to two children, Olivia, born in 2021, and James, born in 2022.

Lasy year, Wozniacki revealed that Lee was very supportive of her decision to return to tennis.

“It would have been easy for him to say, ‘We’re living a great life, we’re chilling, let’s just sit back and enjoy.’ But instead, he was like ‘Go for it, I’m here to support you and we’ll figure it out as a family. We’ll do it together and we’ll have fun doing it'," she said. (via Vogue)

Caroline Wozniacki announced her return to tennis in a 2023 interview with Vogue. She revealed that around Christmas and New Year's in 2022, she asked her husband if she should make a comeback to tennis.

“'I’ve been hitting it well'," Wozniacki said.
“'Yeah,' he said. 'I’ve been watching'."
"'Should I come back?' I asked, more rhetorically than anything."
“'Honestly, why not?' David said, after a moment. 'We only live once'."

Caroline Wozniacki would make her comeback at the 2024 North American hard-court swing. Her first tournament was the the Canadian Open, a WTA 1000 event.
