American tennis legend Chris Evert has joined the world in appreciating Carlos Alcaraz's talents as he has time and again proven his mettle on the court. The 19-year-old Spaniard qualified for the Indian Wells Masters final after taking down Italy's Jannik Sinner in their semi-final clash.

Alcaraz outclassed Sinner in straight sets to set up a showdown against Russia's Daniil Medvedev in the final on Sunday, March 19. Medvedev defeated Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 7-6(4) in the semifinals to reach his fourth final of the season.

During the third game of the second set, Alcaraz won a pivotal point with a lob shot which had the crowd on its feet. The commentators even called it the "point of the match".

Tennis author Bastien Fachan took to Twitter to appreciate the Spaniard's on-court prowess by comparing his skills to the 'Big 4'.

"This point is funny because Alcaraz starts by pounding the ball from the baseline like Nadal/Djokovic, comes to the net and volleys like Federer, then backtracks and wins it with a trademark Murray lob" Fachan tweeted

Chris Evert, an 18-time Grand Slam champion, also chimed in and agreed that the winning lob by Alcaraz was "ridiculous."

Chris Evert, who is active on social media, came to Canadian star Bianca Andreescu's defense after she received flak online.

Unhappy with Andreescu's performance at the Indian Wells Open, where she fell to Iga Swiatek in the third round, a Twitter user suggested that the Canadian should retire like Eugeine Bouchard.

"Time to admit @Bandreescu_ is done. She was great, best canadian tennis player ever. But at this point she gets eliminated in the 3rd at best. Time to do the @geniebouchard and bounce." the tweet read

This did not go down well with fans, with one user saying:

"Time to admit that people on Twitter very often suck."

The tweet also caught Evert's attention, who responded by suggesting that the person criticizing Andreescu did not understand tennis.

"NOOOO, you obviously know little about tennis!!!" Evert tweeted.

Evert, who supports young players, recently retweeted a tweet stating that American tennis star Frances Tiafoe has real star power and is entertaining the audience without crossing a line.
