Hubert Hurkacz sang compatriot Iga Swiatek's praises for not only her achievements on the court but also for the person she is off the court. He also shared his excitement to share the court with her at the upcoming Paris Olympics, where the duo is slated to play mixed doubles.

The tennis Olympics will be held at Roland Garros this year, meaning that the surface will be clay. Swiatek is widely regarded as a heavy favorite for the prestigious event, given her dominance on the surface over the last few years. The Pole won WTA 1000s in Madrid and Rome and followed it up with a third consecutive French Open win.

On the other hand, Hurkacz also made major strides on clay this year, winning his first title on the surface at the Estoril Open. He made it to the latter stages of all three Masters in Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Rome. The 27-year-old also reached the fourth round of the French Open and will look to take this form into the Olympics.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Hubert Hurkacz heaped praise on his compatriot, saying he didn't need to do anything since she was winning everything. He said what she had done was amazing and was super happy to team up with her for the once-in-a-four-year event.

“I don’t need to be here at all, Iga’s winning everything. It’s inspiring also off the court how nice she is, what a person she is. It’s really fantastic what she has done. I’m super-happy that we’ll be able to play some mixed doubles in the Olympics, that’s really special,” Hurkacz said.

Hubert Hurkacz and Iga Swiatek made their Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, they failed to clinch any medals.

Hurkacz entered the men's singles as the seventh seed and kicked off his run with a straight-set win against Australia's Luke Saville but was ousted in the subsequent round by Great Britain's Liam Broady in a topsy-turvy three-setter.

Swiatek, meanwhile, was seeded sixth and started off with a comfortable straight-set win against Germany's Mona Barthel. She was eliminated in the second round by Paula Badosa in straight sets.

Hurkacz teamed up with Lukasz Kubot for men's doubles. The fifth-seeded pair lost in the opening round to the team of Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff. Kubot also teamed with Swiatek for mixed doubles and the pair got off to a winning start against France's Fiona Ferro and Pierre-Hugues Herbert but lost in the next round to Elena Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev's team.
