Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden have scaled many heights while playing together in men’s doubles. After winning the Australian Open earlier this year, the Indo-Australian Open are looking to win their maiden US Open title. But there is a chance that the duo might come face to face in mixed doubles at Flushing Meadows.

If both Bopanna and Ebden win their respective second-round matches in mixed doubles, they will face each other in the quarterfinals. Bopanna and Indonesia’s Aldia Sutjiadi will lock horns with Czechia’s Katerina Siniakova and Australia’s John Peers in the second round.

Ebden is currently partnering with Wimbledon singles champion Barbora Krejcikova and they will be up against the American duo of Iva Jovic and Kaylan Bigun in the second round.

How has Rohan Bopanna performed in the US Open 2024?

Bopanna had a disappointing run at the Paris Olympics where he failed to go through to the second round with N Sriram Balaji. But he has made an impressive start to his campaign in the US Open. In men’s doubles, he and Ebden have already made their way through to the third round.

In the first round, they defeated the Dutch pair of Robin Haase and Sander Arends 6-3, 7-5. The duo carried their form in the second round as well, beating Roberto-Carballes Baena and Federico Coria 6-2, 6-4. They will now lock horns with the Argentine pair of Andres Molteni and Maximo Gonzales in the third round.

In mixed doubles, Bopanna made a brilliant start with Sutjiadi after beating Demi Schuurs and Tim Putz 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-5). As far as Ebden is concerned, he and Krejcikova defeated Chan Hao-ching and Austin Krajicek 6-2, 6-2 in the first round.

Keeping aside their success in Grand Slams, Bopanna and Ebden also won the doubles title at the Miami Open earlier this year in March.
