Alex de Minaur's girlfriend Katie Boulter penned a short heartfelt note for him after his quarterfinal exit at the 2024 US Open. Jack Draper got the better of de Minaur in straight sets to advance to the semifinal.
10th seed de Minaur and 25th seed Draper faced off in the US Open quarterfinal on Wednesday, September 5. Both men were fighting for a spot in their first-ever Grand Slam semifinal and Draper came out on top. The Brit overpowered his opponent, who appeared to be struggling with an injury, 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.
De Minaur's girlfriend Boulter, who was present in the stands during his first-round win, took to Instagram to share a few pictures of theirs in New York and pen a short heartfelt note for him. She captioned the post:

Boulter also participated in the New York Major as the 31st seed in the women's singles event. She defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in the first round before being ousted by Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 7-5, 7-5, in the second round.
She also competed in the women's doubles event alongside Anna Kalinskaya, but the pair suffered a similar fate, losing in the second round.

Alex de Minaur was impressive at Wimbledon this year before he suffered a hip cartilage issue during his fourth-round match against Arthur Fils. The Aussie had to withdraw from the quarterfinal against Novak Djokovic. Moreover, he also had to withdraw from the subsequent events including the Paris Olympics.
De Minaur returned to the court directly at the US Open and was right back in the groove picking up convincing victories over Marcos Giron, Otto Virtanen, Dan Evans, and Jordan Thompson. Against Jack Draper, in the quarterfinal, the 25-year-old was compromised due to what appeared to be a flare-up of the hip injury.
“I wish I felt better. Let’s just put it that way. It’s tough. It’s a big opportunity. It’s a big chance... So I’m going to stick with the positives that I’m proud of myself," Alex de Minaur said in his post-match interview.
"It’s fine. I dealt with it after Wimbledon. I’ll deal with it after here, and I’ll be back in no time, and hopefully sliding from side to side with not a thought in my head,” he added.
The setback could be costly for Australia at the upcoming Davis Cup qualifiers in Spain. De Minaur is uncertain about his participation and has requested a few days to assess if his condition improves.
