American tennis player Coco Gauff congratulated star gymnast Simone Biles and the USA's women's gymnastics team for securing gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Biles was joined by Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Jade Carey in the team all-around finals.

Simone Biles performed well, despite having her left calf strapped throughout the event. The 27-year-old helped her team earn a total of 171.296 points, clinching the top spot comfortably ahead of Italy and Brazil. Moreover, Biles achieved her fifth Olympic gold with this win.

Simone Biles later shared a series of pictures from the event on Instagram to celebrate Team USA's triumph. Biles also added a caption to the post which was indirectly aimed at her former teammate Mykayla Skinner who had made controversial remarks about her fellow teammates before the Olympics.

"lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️🥇🇺🇸," Biles wrote.

World No. 2 Coco Gauff later congratulated Simone Biles and the team in the comments.

"congratulations," Gauff wrote.

Team USA fell short of gold in women's gymnastics at the previous Olympics in Tokyo, securing silver. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) had claimed the gold.

Coco Gauff's quest for a singles medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics ended in disappointment after she lost to Croatia's Donna Vekic 7-6(7), 6-2 in the third round. Gauff also engaged in a heated argument with the chair umpire after a point, initially awarded to her in the second set, was overturned.

The incident occurred when Gauff was trying to hold her serve at 3-2 (30-40). A shot hit by Donna Vekic's was initially called out by the line umpire, leading Gauff to hit the return into the net. However, chair umpire Jaume Campistol deemed Vekic's shot in, and awarded her the point, which left Gauff fuming.

Despite her elimination from the singles competition, the 21-year-old remains hopeful of a medal. She is a part of the mixed doubles competition alongside Taylor Fritz. The duo defeated Argentina's Nadia Podoroska and Maximo Gonzalez in the opening round on Tuesday, July 30.

Gauff has also teamed up with Jessica Pegula in the women's doubles. The duo defeated Australia's Daria Saville and Ellen Perez in the first round and will face Czech Republic's Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova in the second round.
