Chris Evert recently became a victim of the US Open's April Fool's post featuring Carlos Alcaraz.

The prank post stated that players would be able to take the help of artificial intelligence during their matches at the 2023 US Open. It also had a picture of reigning US Open winner Carlos Alcaraz.

"Players will be permitted to use Artificially Inteligent (AI) coaching at the 2023 US Open," the post read.

Evert, winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, was visibly unhappy with the new 'decision.'

"Wait…..what?? Aren’t the players supposed to be thinking on the court? Players can be coached now, isn’t that enough? Maybe after the match, study the AI?," Evert tweeted.

Soon after her comment, Chris Evert was alerted by her followers that the post was meant to prank people on the occasion of April Fool's Day. Croatian tennis professional Donna Vekic commented on Evert's post and stated that she had suffered the same fate as Evert.

"It’s April’s fools, I also fell for it," Vekic wrote on Twitter.

Former tennis professional and former coach of Serena Williams, Rennae Stubbs, also jumped on the bandwagon.

"Ladies!!!," Stubbs wrote.

A few minutes after reacting to the post, Chris Evert realized that she had been pranked. The former World No. 1 went on to write that she was "gullible" for falling for it.

"I AM SO GULLIBLE…"

The US Open's prank post felt particularly real because they used Carlos Alcaraz's picture from his victorious 2022 campaign. They also posted a graphic to further legitimize their made up new 'rule.'

Despite playing sensational tennis throughout the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz failed to defend his Miami Open title. The top seed lost to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the tournament on Friday.

Alcaraz, who arrived in Florida fresh off clinching the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, won the first set against Sinner in a tiebreaker. However, Sinner quickly regained his mojo and made a stunning comeback to seal a thrilling win over the Spaniard.

With the 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2 victory, Sinner has reached his third final of the season after the Montpellier Open and the Rotterdam Open. Sinner will go up against former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in the summit clash on Sunday.
