There's a fair bit of upheaval in this week's ATP rankings. While most of the big names competed at the Olympics which didn't offer any points, others were duking it out at the Citi Open in Washington. Sebastian Korda came out on top to win the biggest title of his career.
It was a special moment for him as his father won the same tournament back in 1992. Korda also saved a couple of match points in the third round against Thanasi Kokkinakis. The American performed valiantly throughout the week and reached a new career milestone of No. 18 this week.
Flavio Cobolli, who lost to Korda in the Citi Open final, continued the rise of Italian tennis with his impressive performances as well. The 22-year-old jumped 15 places in this week's ATP rankings to a new career high of No. 33.
Jordan Thompson, who reached the quarterfinals of the Citi Open, cracked the top 30 as he moved up a couple of spots to No. 30. He claimed his maiden career title on the ATP Tour at the Los Cabos Open earlier this year.
Luciano Darderi (No. 32), Marcos Giron (No. 37), Jakub Mensik (No. 64), Aleksandar Kovacevic (No. 79), Adam Walton (No. 86), and Camilo Ugo Carbelli (No. 91) are among the other players to reach new career highs this week.
Jannik Sinner continues to lead the ATP rankings, followed by Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz
Jannik Sinner's remarkable season has also seen him deal with a few setbacks, with his withdrawal from the Paris Olympics being the most recent one. He continues to remain atop the ATP rankings and currently has 9570 points. He's now in Montreal to defend his Canadian Open title.
Novak Djokovic trails Sinner in second place with 8460 points, followed by Carlos Alcaraz at No. 3 with 8140 points. The Serb defeated the Spaniard in the final to win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Neither of them will participate in this week's Canadian Open.
Alexander Zverev remains a non-mover at No. 4, as does Daniil Medvedev at No. 5. Hubert Hurkacz moved up a spot to No. 6, a new career peak for him. He was ruled out of the Olympics due to an injury he sustained at Wimbledon.
Hurkacz's rise pushed Alex de Minaur down a rung to No. 7. Andrey Rublev is up next at No. 8, followed by Casper Ruud at No. 9, and Grigor Dimitrov at No. 10. Just outside of the top 10, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Ugo Humbert occupy positions from No. 11 to 15 respectively.
