Paris 2024 Olympics: When is the tennis draw for Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna?

The three-member Indian tennis squad consisting of Sumit Nagal, Rohan Bopanna, and Sriram Balaji is all set to battle it out on the court in an attempt to bring glory to the country at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The tennis events that will be played at the iconic Stade Roland Garros venue, are scheduled to begin on July 27.

While Rohan Bopanna, the famed tennis veteran, will be participating in the men’s doubles event along with partner Sriram Balaji, young sensation Sumit Nagal will be representing India in men’s singles.

The draw ceremony will be held today, July 25, at 2:30 pm IST, in the Club des Loges at Roland Garros and shall decide the matchups for the competition. The singles draw will include 64 contenders, while 32 teams will compete in the men's and women's doubles categories. Rohan Bopanna and Sriram Balaji will be competing in the games as an unseeded team.

All three Indian players would be seen in action competing in the first-round matches of their respective events on July 27 and July 28. Their matches are scheduled to be played from 15:30 IST onwards. Subject to qualifications, the second-round matches are to be played on July 29 at the same time.


Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna's road to Paris 2024 Olympics

26-year-old Sumit Nagal is about to make history by becoming the only player since Leander Paes (1992 and 2000) to qualify for the men’s singles event of the quadrennial event on two consecutive occasions and would be entering the upcoming games with a career-best world ranking of 68.

On the other hand, Rohan Bopanna recently became the oldest tennis player to win a men's grand slam, with a triumph at the Australian Open earlier this year along with partner Mathew Ebden.

Rohan’s partner for the Olympic Games, Sriram Balaji, has also shown good form in the recent past having displayed excellent skills in the French Open.
