Rohan Bopanna is all set to partner with Australian Matthew Ebden in the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal, starting Tuesday, August 6. Bopanna announced his retirement from the national team after his first-round exit in the men’s doubles event at the Paris Olympics 2024 last week. Nevertheless, he will continue to compete on the ATP circuit.

It’s worth noting that before the Paris Olympics 2024, Bopanna last represented India at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, securing the gold medal with Rutuja Bhosale in the mixed doubles event.

On the other hand, his Australian partner Matthew Ebden went on to win the gold medal with John Peers in the men's doubles event at the Paris Olympics 2024.

In the thrilling men’s doubles final, Ebden and Peers secured Australia’s second event tennis gold medal in the Olympics on Saturday, August 4, defeating Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram from the United States by 6-7 (6), 7-6 (1), 10-8.

Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden secured an ATP Masters 1000 title in 2024

In March 2024, Rohan Bopanna paired up with Matthew Ebden to secure the men's doubles title in the Miami Open, the ATP Masters 1000 event, defeating Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek by 6–7(3–7), 6–3, 10–6.

Earlier in the year, Bopanna and Ebden had a brilliant run in the Indian Wells Masters 2023, propelling the former to emerge as the oldest ATP Masters 1000 Champion. The upcoming 2024 National Bank Open in Montreal is the sixth ATP Masters 1000 event this year.

Moreover, Bopanna became the oldest player to secure the world number one ranking in doubles, thanks to his Australian Open doubles title win with Ebden.

The Australian Open win was Bopanna’s second Grand Slam title win. Earlier, he won the mixed doubles event title at the French Open in 2017 along with Gabriela Dabrowski. Interestingly, Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden made the cut to the French Open semi-finals later.
