After the breathtaking opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 on the Seine river, eyes will now shift onto the sporting arenas. Medal rounds will get underway on Saturday (July 27).
As is often the case, the shooting contingent will be under the spotlight early. As many as four Indian shooters will be competing for medals in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event, but there’s also plenty of other action to look forward to.
Besides the likes of Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan leading the rifle squad, shooters like Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan and Sarabjot Singh will also hit the Chateauroux Shooting Centre for their qualification round in Pistol events.
Multi-time Olympians Rohan Bopanna, Ashiwini Ponnappa as well as debutants Tanisha Crasto, Satwiksairaj Rankirddy and Chirag Shetty further add glitz to India’s opening day line-up.
The Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian men’s hockey team, meanwhile, will open its Paris Olympics campaign with a pool match against New Zealand.
