The India vs Argentina hockey match will be one of next week’s highlights at the Paris 2024 Olympics after the Men in Blue kicked off their Olympics campaign by defeating New Zealand with a 3-2 scoreline.

The Indian men’s hockey team will face a stern test when they go up against Rio 2016 Olympics gold medalist Argentina. Led by veteran defender Matias Rey, Argentina will look to get one over the Indian team in the second match of Pool B in the men’s hockey event.

There have been 61 India vs Argentina hockey matches in official competitions, and the Indian men’s hockey team have come out on top 35 times. In the 61 matches played, India scored 152 goals, while Argentina scored 111 goals.

In fact, in the last five matches between India and Argentina, Harmanpreet Singh and company have won all the matches against their Argentine counterparts.

The last time India faced Argentina was in a match on May 26 in the 2023-24 FIH Pro League in Belgium. India won the match 5-4 in normal time. However, just four days prior, the teams had played out a 2-2 draw in the Pro League, and India took home the victory after winning 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

After a thrilling opening match against New Zealand that saw captain Harmanpreet Singh snatch away victory at the last minute, the 24-man Indian men’s hockey team will be in a jubilant mood. The team will be hopeful of continuing its dominance over Argentina and making it two wins out of two in the Paris 202 Olympics hockey event.

The India vs Argentina match will start on July 27 at 4:15 pm IST at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes.

The Indian men’s hockey team will then face Ireland on July 30, Belgium on August 1, and Australia on August 2 to conclude their Pool B matches.
