India have dominated the hockey at the Summer Olympics with the most medals since 1908. India's men's team has won a total of 12 medals, with eight golds in the Games.

Since 1908, when men's hockey was introduced in the Summer Olympics, India has won the tournament in 1928, 1932, 1936, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1964, and 1980. Since 1980, India has not clinched a gold medal in the Summer Olympics.

Even though India has struggled to make an impact in the Olympics, they have produced some of the best players in the sport. However, they showed signs of revival in Hockey during the Tokyo Olympics by winning a bronze medal and ending the drought after 41 years.

When it comes to the women's team, India has found themselves in a very vulnerable situation. India's women's team has failed to win a single medal since the introduction of the women's segment in the Olympics in 1980. They have come in fourth place twice including the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

In the men's events, India's arch-rivals Australia comes the closest with 10 medals in their bag. They have won 1 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals since the team became part of the Summer Olympics. At number three, Great Britain and the Netherlands have an equal number of medals on their name.

Great Britain has 3 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals in the Summer Olympics. Meanwhile, The Netherlands have 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

India is now scheduled to face Germany in the semi-final. The two teams are arch-rivals when it comes to hockey. They both have met on 106 occasions in the past and Germany carries an advantage with 53 wins. However, India carries an edge as they have defeated Germany in the last four meetings out of five.

Amit Rohidas - India's defender, was shown a red card for a foul in the quarter-final and has been suspended for the semi-final match. To reach the final game, India will have to dominate the fixture from the first minute.
