Harmanpreet Singh leads Indian men’s hockey team to first consecutive Olympic medal win in 52 years

After the bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics ended Indian hockey’s Olympic medal drought of 41 years, the second consecutive bronze win in Paris 2024 on Thursday was equally historic.

The Men in Blue’s victory over Spain ensured a consecutive Olympic medal for the Indian hockey team for the first time in 52 years.

The event was a personal success for the Indian captain as well, as Harmanpreet ended the Paris 2024 Olympics as the men’s hockey event’s top scorer with 10 goals scored. However, none of the goals scored by the defender came from open play, with seven of the ten goals coming from penalty corners, and the rest three coming from penalty strokes.
