India escaped with a lucky 1-1 draw against Argentina in their second match of the Paris 2024 Olympics on Monday, July 29. A late penalty corner goal from captain Harmanpreet Singh saved his team the blushes after they trailed for most of the game.

Things could have been very different for the Indian team if Argentina had converted a penalty stroke in the 37th minute. However, Maico Casella shot wide and gave India a reprieve, which proved crucial in the end.

Like the match against New Zealand, India again seemed lacking on some fronts. The players didn't assert their individual skills and committed too many basic errors.

To further understand India's performance in their second match of the Paris 2024 Olympics, here's a look at our player ratings.

India's player ratings from Paris 2024 Olympics match vs. Argentina

Abhishek - 8/10

Without a doubt, Abhishek was India's best forward in the match. He took on the Argentine defenders and got past them on more than one occasion. Sadly, he didn't get the support of other attackers.

Manpreet Singh - 6/10

Manpreet wasn't as good today as he was in the first match. He didn't play the vital role in the midfield expected of someone with his experience.

Hardik Singh - 7/10

Hardik had a much better match compared to the outing against the Black Sticks. However, he is still far from being at his best.

This time around, the India vice-captain played a more attacking role and seemed more confident in his ability to beat players in one-on-one duels. However, someone with his skills can do more.

Sanjay - 8/10

Sanjay was among India's best defenders on a day where the team's defense again stood tall.

Mandeep Singh - 5/10

After a good performance against New Zealand, Mandeep had a disappointing outing against Argentina. He was largely absent from India's attacking moves and didn't open up the opposition defense as expected.

Harmanpreet Singh - 8/10

It is hard to overestimate the value of Harmanpreet's equalizer. Because of his reputation, he draws the opposition's runners towards him on every penalty corner routine. However, the India captain backed his abilities and delivered under pressure.

As far as his defender's duties were concerned, Harmanpreet Singh again did a tidy job, keeping the Argentines at bay.

PR Sreejesh - 6/10

The veteran goalie was partly responsible for India conceding the first goal as he failed to clear the ball and it squirted past his stick into the goalpost. Otherwise, PR Sreejesh didn't give much cause for complaint.

Sumit - 7/10

In another good performance from the Indian defense, Sumit played his role well. He was clean with his tackles and ensured that Argentina didn't get too many opportunities.

Shamsher Singh - 6/10

Shamsher didn't stand out with his performance on the day. India need midfielders like him to be more assertive.

Amit Rohidas - 7.5/10

Amit was his usual reliable self. He kept things tidy at the back and set up forward presses for India effectively.

Sukhjeet Singh - 5/10

Coming into the Paris 2024 Olympics, Sukhjeet Singh was among India's best forwards. However, in this game, he was well below par with his performance. In fact, the inability of the forwards to create space and get past the defenders in the circle was the biggest reason for India not winning.

Jarmanpreet Singh - 6/10

Jarmanpreet loses a point for a few mistakes he made today. Usually a very dependable player, he seemed to wilt under pressure somewhat in this match.

Gurjant Singh - 5/10

On a not-so-good day for the Indian forward line, Gurjant too disappointed with his effort. India need their forwards to be more aggressive and fight harder to move the ball inside the circle.

Lalit Kumar Upadhyay - 6/10

Lalit was in good form during the last match but didn't rise to the occasion today. An underwhelming effort from him as well.

Raj Kumar Pal - 7/10

Raj Kumar Pal was mostly good with his work in the midfield.

Vivek Sagar Prasad - 7.5/10

The diminutive Indian midfielder had another good outing at the Paris 2024 Olympics. He was among the more impressive Indian players on the day and provided dynamism to the midfield.
